This will probably be my longest, most rambling blog post on here since this is basically summarizing the last 2 years of my art career up until this point - I promise other posts will be more fun in all aspects (visually, topics, art, creativity, etc.)!
It is nearing the end of 2025 and I have accomplished so much within the year related to art. I moved to Chicago in the Spring of 2023 and that marked the jumpstart of me diving back into art and nurturing this hobby and skill that I have had since I was a little girl. Luckily, Chicago was the BEST place to reignite my creative spark and be inspired by everything around me. I have yet to stop creating since then ...
I began drawing and painting again with mainly watercolors and colored pencils. Watercolor painting acts as the foundation of my artistic style - 2 years later I still find myself gravitating towards any water-based art forms. My watercolor pieces taught me so much about proportions, drawing, imperfections, failure, and success. One thing about water-based mediums is they are not as forgiving and patience is key to creating beautiful art.
Here are some of my favorite city inspired pieces:

Once that spark was back, I then expanded my creativity to hop online to my now art Instagram account @kelsey.park.art and share my own pieces while also being introduced to so many other artists and art accounts. To say it was (and still is) overwhelming would be an understatement. Art on social media is so incredibly fun - however it is very humbling when your eyes can consumer and visualize high-level art talent a lot faster than my own hands and skills can create. I would see an artist create a piece and think "I can do that!"; making it my next project, and nope. Definitely not as easy as it looks... ever.
But that was part of the fun! Art social media encouraged me to try other mediums, styles, and subjects. Stepping into other art territories, I have discovered, is all part of the process to find my own style and brand. So I spent 2 years painting, drawing, creating almost anything that was popular, trending, beautiful, or fun looking. I used canvas, paper, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, and my iPad for all forms of art. I look back on those 2 years and sometimes see it as a whirlwind of art with no clear direction, but I guess that was kind of the point. Now that I have been able to test out so many styles and subjects, I am confident in where my joy, skills, and passions lie.

As I mentioned before, in 2023 was when I dove back into art and once I was consistent with it, I decided to create yearly goals for myself from 2024-2026:

Safe to say so many of my goals have been accomplished... maybe a bit out of order but a win is a win! I am so proud of all my accomplishments up until this point and am so motivated to keep checking them off and creating more for the years to come.
All my milestones and achievements this year are what led me to this... REBRANDING.
I felt that my art presence online was lacking by not showcasing me as a person or artist, and not capturing how and why I paint what I do. Sometimes my art subjects/styles can still look a bit random, however to me it all makes sense because I create based on inspiration from places I have been or experiences I have had. I want to capture and share all of that and more with my art to help people obtain a better sense of the feelings I had when being inspired and painting.
I still experiment when I am creating art, specifically when I am painting based on a trip I had where my surroundings and inspiration are much different than my normal day inspiration. And when I do that, there are many times when I do not feel pleased or connected with the art piece either during the process or when it is completed. Sometimes that can be exhausting and draining. However, it is yet another example of pushing me to art styles and subjects that are the most "me"!

All of this to say - my Instagram and website are now updated with the new KelseyParkArt brand in mind; for all future posts, art creation, methods of sharing, and more!
And all future blog posts will be much shorter, more visual, and fun topics.
xx
